  • Root background is now a proper two-gray checkerboard (4px squares),
    the classic X root stipple, replacing the diagonal weave.
  • xload: canvas strip chart with per-integer scale lines, one sample
    per second. The load tracks open window count plus noise, so killing
    windows visibly calms it.
  • xcalc: functional TI-30 with AOS precedence, parens, INV/DRG, EE,
    memory keys, and Error lockout. Key logic is a pure engine in
    js/xcalc.js with node tests; both apps launch lazily from the twm
    menu or by name in an xterm and resurrect after Delete Window.
  • Esc no longer quits X (twm had no keyboard quit): it only closes
    menus and dialogs. Exit lives in the root menu, and Ctrl+Alt+
    Backspace performs the classic server zap from anywhere.
